Dakota Shane Boles, 19, of Josephine, formerly of Powderly, died Friday, August 3, 2012 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in the gymnasium of North Lamar High School with Rev. Kathy French and Paul Allen officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Dakota was born September 24, 1992 in Dallas to Johnny Mac and Gayla Jean Owens Boles. He graduated from North Lamar High School where he excelled in football. His other interests included hunting, fishing and working out. He had served in the US Army National Guard.
Dakota is survived by his parents, Gayla Roberts and husband, Joey of Powderly and Johnny Mac Boles and wife, Carolyn of Josephine; three brothers, Kaleb Lee Gurley of Arthur City, Justin Ray Boles and Hunter Mac Leon Boles, both of Josephine; one sister, Marandia DeLynn Boles of Josephine; his grandparents, Mac and Jeanette Boles of Josephine, Carl and Martha Owens of Powderly, Sue Roberts of Blossom, and Jerry and Carol Harrison of Lavon; Michael Davidson of Grant, Oklahoma who has been Dakota’s best friend since kindergarten; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Beryl Roberts.
Pallbearers will be Michael Davidson, Dillon Wilson, Ty Smith, T.J. Shirley, De’Vin Noiel, Clay Flippen, Kolten Taylor, and Dominic Corpus.

Joyce Meredith, 79, of Reno, died at 9:45 AM, Friday, August 3, 2012 at Dubuis Hospital. A graveside service is set for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with Rev. D.J. Harris officiating. No formal visitation hour will be observed and the family request that no floral remembrances be sent. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Meredith was born October 13, 1932 in Lamar County to John W. and Clara Lassiter Miller. She married Earl Roy “Dude” Meredith in 1950. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1980. Mrs. Meredith was retired from Phillips Lighting Corporation and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Meredith is survived by her daughter, Linda Kisner and husband, Jack Gross of New Jersey; one brother, Douglas Miller of Giddings, Texas; one sister, Frankie Carney of Maxey: a nephew, Steve Foster and wife, Vicki and his family of Reno; as well as many extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Xerxes Miller; and two sisters, Juanita Foster Streety and Mary Cornell.

Mary Jo Dawes, 72, of Seven Points, Texas, died at 10:11 PM, Friday, August 3, 2012 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Lynette Solomon officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cemetery. Mary Jo was born April 5, 1940 in Stanford, Texas to James Ira and Juanita Gafford Miller. She married Billy Frank Dawes in March of 1964 in Hugo, Oklahoma. Mrs. Dawes retired as an executive vice-president from Brookhollow National Bank of Richardson.
Mrs. Dawes is survived by her husband, Bill; five children, Frank Boyer and wife, Michelle, Kelly Reed Dawes, Rodney Dawes and wife, Kathren, Angela Dawes, and Heather Barnett and husband, Ricky; fourteen grandchildren, Megan, Drake, Aaron, Zack, Tara, Alex, Sydney, Taylor, Lindsey, Stormie, Raynie, Windie, Harley, and Riley; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kaitlin; six siblings, Jim Miller and wife, Pat, Evelyn Palmer and husband, Paul, Gaylen Miller, Paula Deaton and husband, Jackie, Larry Miller and wife, Linda, and Irene McCurry; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Farmer, Christopher Farmer, Dakota Fuller, Colton Wilson, Jason Cooper, Charlie Dawes, Larry Miller, and Ron Miller.
