Carolyn Ann Maxwell Young, 78, of Paris, died at 3:45 PM, Monday, June 18, 2012 at Paris Regional Medical Center-South. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Friday, June 22, 2012 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Charlotte Coyle officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Carolyn was born January 4, 1934 to Annie Belle Murray Maxwell and Marshall A. Maxwell in Waco,Texas. She attended Paris schools and graduated from Paris High School in 1951 and graduated from East Texas State niversityin 1959. She was a bookkeeper for the Lamar County Tax Assessor’s office and Texas Consumer Finance for many years. She retired as a teacher fromParisIndependentSchool Districtin 1993 where she taught at Justiss and Crockett. She married Billy Ray Young inParison November 6, 1959. He died on May 21, 2005.
Mrs. Young was a lifetime member of First Christian Church and a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. She and her husband were former members of the Paris Squares square dancing club where they served as president and vice-president.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred Maxwell; and a brother, Murray Maxwell.
She is survived by three children, Lindy Young of Paris, Lori Annett and husband, Tony of McKinney, and Mitch Young of Dallas; four grandchildren, Courtney Young Todd and husband, Jason of Paris, Cody, Cadie, and Callie Annett of McKinney; two great-grandchildren, Parker Annett of Anna, Texas and Kyler Todd of Paris; a nephew, John David Maxwell and wife, LuAnn of Paris; a great-niece, Brooke Maxwell; and a great- nephew, Josh Maxwell of Paris; nieces Julia LaBorde of Covington, Louisiana, Anna Jo Whitley and husband, Chris of Paris, Shana Pruitt and husband, Tom of Paris, Rene Vest and husband, David of Longview.
Pallbearers will be, Jason Todd, Cody Annett, Tony Annett, John David Maxwell, Josh Maxwell, and Colton Price.
