Claudine Marie Smith, 79, of Detroit, Texas passed away Tuesday June 19, 2012 in Paris Regional Medical Center South.
She was born in Hugoton, Kansas a daughter of Walter and Edith Hodges Drake. She married Alden Smith on May 28, 1949 in Dumas, Texas. Claudine was a homemaker, avid fisherman and a member of the Red River Valley Mennonite Church. She loved to travel, with her favorite place being Port Aransas, Texas. Before moving to Texas from Colorado in 1980 she had a foster home full of boys for several years. She loved her Lord and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alden Smith, son James Smith, Grandson Kenneth Brandonberg Jr., and a grand-daughter Roberta Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children Janet Dickerson and husband David of Paris, Glenda Drake of Montana, David Smith and wife Maggie of Paris, and a daughter-in-law Susie of Detroit; grandchildren Michael Alberts Jr. and wife Brenda, Scott Alberts and Toni, Ben Smith, Curtis Smith, Walter Smith, Samuel Smith, Robert Smith, Kendra Farmer and husband Jeff, Vince Seta and wife Kaylee, Amanda Seta, Sara Seta, Jacob Smith, and Dusty Smith; 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the Red River Valley Mennonite Church with Ed Yost and Nelson Stoll officiating. Burial will follow in the Red River Valley Mennonite Church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Unruh, Dave Ensz, Joe Cannedy, Rodger Smith, Don Ratzloff, and Curtis Smith.
