Mrs. Margaret Ida Love, 86, of Powderly, died Tuesday evening, June 12, at her home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Powderly Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Chicota Cemetery. Mrs. Love was born June 14, 1925 in Chicota, TX, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. (Tiff) Gordon. After graduating from Chicota High School, she married Robert T. Love, also a Chicota native, and spent the next 23 years as an Air Force wife, moving with her family to assignments throughout the United States and in South America. They moved to Powderly from Lucas in 1990. While in Lucas, she served as a member of the City Council and as President Pro Tem of the Council.
A loving wife and mother, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and fishing. She also liked to listen to gospel music. She took special joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Powderly Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Love of Powderly; one daughter, Pam Mehlhoff and husband Jim of Spokane, WA; three sons, Jim Love and wife Elsie of Chicota, Tim Love and wife Kathy of McKinney, and Ken Love and wife Tanya of McKinney; two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Frye of Chicota, and Mrs. Phara White of Kilgore; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Jones; and two brothers, Harry Gordon and Travis Gordon.
Pallbearers will be Jim Mehlhoff, Charles Love, Tim Love, Ken Love, Jim Love, and Robert Tucker. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name may be made to the Powderly Baptist Church, Chicota Cemetery, or a charity of choice.
The family extends their deepest appreciation and gratitude to Ms. Michael Burleson, Ms. Anita Ratliff, and Ms. Janice Masey for the loving care and comfort they provided Margaret.
Joan Jones, 68, of Paris died Tuesday June 12, 2012. Arrangements are pending with Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
