Georgia Pearl Talbott, 92, of Powderly, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Pastor Atila Runyan officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Talbott, the daughter of James Mack & Jo Ethel Elliott Easterling, was born May 13, 1919, in Franklin County.
She graduated from Talco High School. Her career spanned several years at LTV followed by 18 years at Alcatel. She was very active at the Bounds Baptist Church, her Sunday School class, Vacation Bible School, playing the piano and singing in the choir. She was an avid gardener, loved crocheting and was a care giver to her family for many years.
On May 22, 1942, she married R. A. Talbott, building forty-two years of family and memories before his death on May 27, 1984.
Her parents, her husband, three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Billy Mack “Sonny” Talbott & wife Connie of Powderly, one daughter, Ruth Ann Runyan & husband Atila of Amarillo, grandchildren, Mackenzie Hellman & husband Dave of Arlington, Billy Shane Talbott & wife Karrie of Edgewood, Rodney Talbott of Powderly, Claudia Talbott of Wheelock, Amy Reid & husband Thad of Plainview, Meredith Cain & husband Chad of South Pasadena, CA and Elizabeth Melcher & husband Russell of Amarillo, 10 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Pete Newsome, II, Dave Hellman, Billy Shane Talbott, Russell Melcher, Rodney Talbott and Thad Reid. Honorary bearers will be: Arthur Green, Jr., Eldon Smart, Eldon Smart, Jr., Timothy Easterling, Bryan Easterling, Cecil Ross Loftin and Chad Cain.

Kennith O. “Possum” Parson of Powderly passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his residence. He was born on November 11, 1956 in Paris a son of W.H. and Bessie Mae Hervey Parson.
Kennith graduated from Chicota High School in 1975 and attended Paris Junior College. He was a mechanic for Campbell Soup Company for 37 years. Kennith was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he was an Awana’s teacher and bus driver. He married Yvonne Tucker on March 21, 1981 in Paris.
He was a kind hearted, hard working man who loved his God and family. He was an avid outdorsman with a love for hunting and fishing. He never met a stranger and loved children of all ages. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne Parson; children Amanda King and husband Travis of Paris, Katie Parson and Austin Parson both of Powderly; granddaughter Tabitha Marie King; his mother Bessie Mae Parson; brother Terry Parson and wife Peggy of Eastland, Texas; sisters Sherry Slaughter and husband Doyle and Cathy Graham and husband Jackie both of Paris; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father W.H. Parson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the Long Cemetery with Jr. Vanderburg, David Vanderburg, Bob Moss, Kenny Freeman, David Sain, Reggie Horton, Carl Johnson, and Danny Wilson serving as pallbearers.
