North Lamar ISD Names New Superintendent
Yesterday, July 8th, the NL ISD School Board approved John McCullough, current superintendent of Sulphur Bluff ISD, as the lone finalist to become North Lamar’s new superintendent.
Mr. McCullough has been at Sulphur Bluff ISD for two years and would be replacing James Dawson, who served as NL Superintendent for 26 years. Currently, Assistant Superintendent Shelly McDowell is acting as interim superintendent.
Paul Jones, Paris ISD superintendent stated, “I have known John McCullough both personally and professionally for many years. He is both an experienced superintendent and a quality person. We were superintendents of neighboring school districts in Hopkins county and worked cooperatively sharing many services which benefited students of both school districts. We not only co-oped special services between our pervious districts–we were one of the few schools districts in the state of Texas that shared a business office. I look forward to his move to Lamar county.”
The North Lamar ISD School Board will have a vote to hire him in 21 days.
