Retirement Celebration for NL's James Dawson
Retiring North Lamar ISD Superintendent, James A. Dawson, will be honored for his longtime service on Wednesday, June 4th with a public reception. The celebration will be from 3-5pm at the James A. Dawson Athletic Facility, located at 3201 Lewis Lane.
Dawson joined the NL School District in 1987 as the high school principal and was named superintendent in 1989.
During his tenure as superintendent, Dawson passed a $11.5 million bond for a new high school in 1994; made an addition in 1996 to the Aaron Parker Elementary school in Powderly; built the new indoor athletic facility in 2006; and in 2010 a $4.7 million dollar bond allowed the high school to expand its science and computer labs.
After serving 48 years in education, Dawson resigned during a school board meeting on April 14th.
North Lamar ISD is currently using the search firm, Executive Search Services, to find a new Superintendent. Interviews are scheduled to be conducted this month.
