North Lamar Independent School District held a banquet Monday night to honor employees who have served the school district and who have made a difference to students and co-workers throughout the year. 

         

Superintendent James A. Dawson recognized employee for their years of service, honored those retiring, and presented special awards to those who have gone beyond assisting students and colleagues.  With the help of last year’s teachers of the year, DiedraRast and Melissa LaVoy, the 2014 North Lamar recipients were named.

Top recognitions went to Stephen Smallwood at North Lamar High School who was named Secondary Teacher of the Year and Alexandria Walters at Bailey Intermediate who was named Elementary Teacher of the Year.  Others representing their campuses and were interviewed for the district’s high honors were Janie Sharrock at Stone Middle School, Phyllis King at Aaron Parker Elementary, Stephanie Bishop at Everett Elementary, and Tiffanie Bell at Higgins Elementary.

Recipients of the district’s special awards were: Lila Brakebill at NLHS for Auxiliary of the Year; Justine Wideman at NLHS for Support Staff of the Year; Cathy Scheffel at Everett for Paraprofessional of the Year; and Melissa Arnold at NLHS for Regular Educator of the Year.

Others nominated by their campuses for the special awards include: Paraprofessionals – Lacey Jordan at Higgins, Valerie Edmonson at Parker, Tali Stewart at Bailey, Renee Noble at Stone and Nancy Beall at NLHS; Support Staff – Janna Moody at Higgins, Christie Welch at Everett, Randy Dollins at Parker, Keitha Chalupa at Bailey, and Marla George at Stone; Auxiliary – Tommy Parker at Higgins, Patricia Arnold at Everett, Celina Johns at Parker, Carla Spann at Bailey, and John Powell at Stone; Regular Educator – Janie Sharrock at Stone, Kim Johnson at Parker, Christie Welch at Everett, Ruth Rainey at Higgins, and Michelle Brazeal at Bailey.

            Honored and receiving pins for their years of service were: 35 years – Paula McVay; 30 years – Darlene Blount-Peel, Joe Bill Dawes, Edye Ferguson, and Barbara Towers; 25 years – Kathy Barker, Debbie Downs, and Sandra Patterson; 20 years – Wendy Bozarth, Jenene Cannon, Julie Green, Kathy Harville, Karen Johnson, and Cheryl Smith.

          Fifteen year pins were given to Kenda Wheeler, Carla Coleman, Angela Compton, Jenifer Cooper, Ruby Douglas, Melanie Dunagan, Pam Figueroa, Patti Haley, Cheryl LaRue, Jan McKinney, Kim Perry, Debora Roberts, Mark Russell, Chris Smith, Melvia Strickland, Tuttle Whitley, and Renee Williams.  Receiving 10 year pins were Claire Anderson, Sandra Bramhall, Julie Brown, John Dickinson, Becky Jones, Cherie Jones, Alice Kirby, Shelli Kropp, Jennifer Kuhlengel, Yolanda Lasenbby, Lori Malone, Leona Martin, Pam McNabb, Carl Rollins, Marla Sessums, Joseph Tellez, and Christina Weemes.

          Others who received their 5 year pins were Jamie Allen, Karen Baker, Kathy Ballard, Sharon Calhoun, Cindy Cobb, Emily Cole, Britany Creamer, Dedra Dollins, Marilyn Elmighalajughi, Amy Haage, Tracy Johnson, Jana Kays, Galyn Lyles, Brittany Moreland, Jemela Moseley, Jeff Parish, David Pasternak, Carla Piper, David Roberts, Metra Roberts, Sharon Routon, Tali Stewart, Heather Vanderburg, Michelle Wear, and Beth Worthey

          Retiring from the district are Brenda Anthony, Susan Barackman, Jim Chadwick, Joe Bill Dawes, James Dawson, Rozann Dawson, Patti Easterwood, Dianne Erwin, Tommy Felty, Pam Garrison, Judy Holt, Lance Johnson, Stephen Smallwood, Breana Smith, and Pauline Wigley.

          Board members not seeking reelection and recognized at the banquet were Brad Perry and Dr. Robert White
