North Lamar Choir Earns 1st Division Ratings
North Lamar High School Choir competed in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest on February 20 at Texas A&M Commerce. The group received a first division on their performances which qualified them for the State Solo and Ensemble Competition. Students who competed and are pictured, front row left to right, are Ritu Thapa, Lupita Patino, Brooke Crawford, Joy Merritt, Cierra Williams, and Caitlin Flick; second row, Taylor White, Reily Preston, Brittany Birch, Abbey Blake, Cheyenne Jones, Maddi Jolley, and Brock Garrison; and third row, Nick Corpus, Michael Loranger, Dayton Thibodeaux, Kreagan Scott, Eric Shelton, and Mariah Burton. Students who went on to compete at the State Solo and Ensemble Competition on March 1st at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City had the opportunity to sing in a collegiate recital hall where they were critiqued and judged. They were then given a tour of the college campus and treated to lunch on campus. Students receiving ones and pictured are, front row left to right, Reily Preston, Brooke Crawford, Brittany Birch, Cierra Williams, and Maddi Jolley; and second row Dayton Thibodeaux, Kreagan Scott, Eric Shelton, and Brock Garrison. This is the 7th year that North Lamar Choir has had the opportunity to sing at colleges across Northeast Texas and Oklahoma.
The choir is under the direction of Rebecca Hildreth, Michelle Anderson, and Pat Fowzer, accompanist and voice instructor.
