Stone Middle School Science Fair Winners

Stone Science Fair WinnersTwelve bright students from Stone Middle School will represent North Lamar at the Region VIII Science Fair on February 11, 2014.  After placing in the top four spots in their school’s competition, the young researchers will present their projects that cover a wide range of topics from biological to chemical and physical science.

North Lamar eighth graders who advanced to the regional meet with their project titles are Bailey Fowler – 1st “Talk Dirty to Me”, Hylan Gabeline – 2nd “Terminal Velocity”, Sydney Neuse – 3rd “Does Cooking Reduce Vitamin C?”, and Heather Armstrong – 4th “How Much Gas is in Beverages?”. 

Advancing in the seventh grade category are Shayek Shafiq – 1st “Biodegradables vs. Non-biodegradables”, Abbie Fisher – 2nd “Survival of the Fittest: Trees”, Allison Bright – 3rd “Bag Wars”, and Jacie Liley – 4th “Ice Ice Baby”. 

Representing the sixth grade will be Cooper Rast – 1st “Distillation”, Kris Kirby – 2nd “What Kind of Toilet Paper is Strongest”, Reese Mobley – 3rd “Rainbow Flames”, and Jada Rogers – 4th “Hovercraft”.

“We have an outstanding group of students representing Stone Middle School,” said 8th grade science instructor John Dickinson. “During the next few weeks, they will be fine tuning their projects in preparation for the Region 8 Science Fair in February.”

Other Stone science instructors include Shawna Brown (6th), Nicky Charlie (6th & 7th), Jeremy Glossup (8th), Ashley Gross (7th) and Kenny Sanders (7th).

Middle School science fair winners who will compete at region in February beginning front left are Reece Mobley, Jada Rogers, Hylan Gabeline, Sydney Neuse, Jacie Liley, Kris Kirby, and Allison Bright.  In back are Cooper Rast, Shayek Shafiq, Abbie Fisher, Heather Armstrong, and Bailey Fowler.
