Innovative run slated to draw huge crowd

In an order to help raise funds for the Lamar County Coalition of Business Education and Industry, Director Stephanie Connot knew she had to put together something that would be fresh and fun.

“All my friends and family were traveling to participate in these 5K obstacle runs like Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder, and thought we can do that” Connot said. “ The Red River Valley region would be the perfect place to host a quality mud run event that is just as fun and entertaining.”

After countless volunteer hours and dedication on October 20th, hundreds, if not 1000’s, of runners will line up at a staging area north of Paris Texas to run in the first annual Mad Max Mud Run.

It’s namesake is Camp Maxey, a national guard facility north of Paris on HWY271, has been assisting Connot and her volunteers to construct top notch challenging obstacles, surely to test the seasoned athlete. There are 12 obstacles through out the course that most participants can complete.

“All Obstacles are optional. We’ve created by-passes so that participants can choose to go around an obstacle if they feel it is too challenging.” Connot later said.

Since it is not a timed event, nearly everyone can participate. There will be hydration stations set up on the route along with volunteers and emergency professionals.

Of course food and music will be available and a series of “SGT Mad Max’s” to motivate the runners through the course. The day will end with a post run party at Buffalo Joe’s, one of the Mad Max Mud Run Sponsors.
