Lamar County Humane Association wins big in national PETCO Foundation contest

The Petco Foundation recently awarded ten animal shelters across the country with $10,000 a piece in their 100 Celebrations Contest.

The top ten to receive the most votes on Facebook from fans or citizens in their community would receive the money.

The Lamar County Humane Association in Paris, TX came in at number nine with 5,064 votes, winning the $10,000 prize!

There were shelters from all over the country awarded, from states such as, California, Kentucky, Georgia, Washington, North Carolina and Louisiana.

It’s awesome to see ‘small town’ Paris keep up with large cities, such as San Diego, who’s shelter, Labradors and Friends, came in at number 5 with just 5,159 votes — only 95 votes more than our Lamar County Humane Association.

Congratulations to the Lamar County Humane Association on their big win.  More to come on the Extra! about the great ways they use their awarded money.
