Cypress Basin Hospice holds informational meeting about volunteer opportunities

“The one thing that I deeply appreciate about serving someone who is dying is the lessons I learn about living.” This statement comes from a woman who has been a hospice volunteer for 5 years.

Volunteers are a very special part of the services provided by the Cypress Basin Hospice program. We are looking for caring, compassionate individuals who want to be blessed by providing both practical assistance and loving care to our patients and family members. To explain what a hospice volunteer does and to meet other volunteers, Cypress Basin Hospice is holding a “Meet & Greet” session:

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

11:30 am – 1:00 p.m.

A FREE light lunch will be served

Red River Business Incubator offices

1445 Clarksville Street

Paris, Texas

RSVP to Carmel at 903/577-1510 or email to c.orren@cbhospice.org.

Volunteers may lend their time and talents in several different capacities.

Direct patient and family assistance:  These services include, but are not limited to: sitting with patients, translating, making phone calls, and running errands. Volunteers interested in direct patient and family assistance must complete a twenty hour volunteer training course. The training is offered in class room and self-study methods.

Non-patient care assignments: These services include, but are not limited to: working in our thrift stores, assisting as office help, participating in fundraising events, health fairs and other community relations events. Volunteers for this type of service will receive orientation as needed for the tasks in which they choose to serve.

Cypress Basin Hospice is a non-profit agency that has served since 1986 throughout Northeast Texas for those patients and their families who are undergoing the effects of life-limiting illness. Care is given in the patient’s home, nursing facility, assisted living, or hospital. In addition to patient and family services, Cypress Basin Hospice offers a wide range of grief support programs to families and individuals, whether or not they are Cypress Basin Hospice clients.
