Red River Valley Fair

The 2012 Red River Valley Fair opens today Tuesday, Sept. 25th and runs through Saturday, Sept. 29th.  Since 1911 the fair has been bringing family fun to the area.

Some of the daily attractions include Belgium draft horses, antique car and tractor exhibits, a petting zoo, Gator the clown, creative arts and crafts showcase Ag-Venture exhibits, community exhibits and a livestock show.  Of course, most of the kids come for the carnival rides, which are open nightly and all day on Saturday. And don’t forget all the food vendors offering everything from corn dogs to funnel cakes.

Performances are scheduled nightly on the main stage. Tuesday at 7pm is the Wade White Band and Plain Label Band, followed by local favorite Gene Watson at 8pm. Wednesday evening is FM South at 6pm and Jon Wolfe at 8pm. Thursday evening beginning at 7pm is Gospel Music Singing. Finally on Saturday, there is a Little Britches Talent Show at 6:30pm, followed by 2 Hearts Plus at 7pm and then back by popular demand the Paris Idol singing competition at 8pm.

The fair is located at the Paris/Lamar County Fairgrounds and is open Tuesday thru Friday from 6pm until 10:30pm and on Saturday from 11am until 11pm.
