New contest-winning billboard design welcomes people to downtown Paris

Dorothy Witt’s contest winning billboard design (pictured above) is now in place above the building at 2 Clarksville Street, which was formerly the Paris Winery — now Gypsy Chic.

In the spring of this year, a graphic design contest was held by the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, Paris Main St. and the Paris Downtown Association.  The contest would decide what the large billboard above the building at 2 Clarksville Street would look like.

On May 29, 2012 a winning design was chosen by these three organizations.  The winner was to have their design on the billboard atop what is now Gypsy Chic.

This winner was Dorothy Witt, of Detroit, Texas.  She had a fabulous design that caught the eyes of the judges.

On July 11, 2012 her design became the newest addition to our historic downtown and went up on the billboard.  Now it can catch your eyes as you drive through.

It’s a wonderful welcome to visitors of our great downtown and newcomers planning to move here.  The billboard adds a rustic style to our already historic downtown.

Congratulations to you Dorothy for a job well done and great artwork.
