County Commissioners Vote Unanimously on Veterans Service Officer
The Lamar County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday morning to relieve Rhonda Rogers, Lamar County Veterans Service Officer, of her duties effective immediately.
Ms. Rogers has held the position for the past three years. After a three hour executive session held on Monday, July 28th the Lamar County Commissioners Court asked for her resignation.
Judge Chuck Superville stated that several veterans had voiced concerns regarding Ms. Rogers.
When eParisExtra.com contacted Rhonda Rogers on July 31st, she had yet to turn in a resignation letter. She stated that her office has also received many calls and visitors who support her and were surprised that the Commissioner’s Court asked for her resignation.
Ms. Rogers stated, “I am extremely humbled and grateful from the extreme support from veterans and the community.”
