Retail Request to be Looked at Again by Planning & Zoning
Back on the agenda at the Planning and Zoning Committee Meeting, today at 5:30pm in the city council chambers, is the retail request regarding the lot at 1900-2200 block of NE Loop 286.
The request is the first step in a multi-step process, which would allowor Paris Ford to purchase the land and relocate its dealership.
On May 5th, with a 5-0 vote, the Planning and Zoning Commission passed the item. However, when it went to the previous Paris City Council led by former Mayor A.J. Hashmi on May 10th, the request was pulled from the Consent Agenda and was denied in a 5-2 vote, citing worries about floodplains and liabilities.
A revised plan was then presented again to the Planning and Zoning Commisssion, but was tabled.
This request to replat the area would enable owner, Don Wilson, to subdivide the property into buildable lots. According to Wilson, in addition to the Ford, another new company – the Red River Credit Union- also had plans to build next to the new dealership.
The request is also on the agenda for the City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd at 5:30pm.
