Surgeon performs Paris Regional Medical Center’s first surgery with the da Vinci System
A surgical team at Paris Regional Medical Center performed their first da Vinci® surgery Thursday, January 23rd. Led by Fred Williams M.D., Gynecologist, the team performed a hysterectomy using instruments on a da Vinci® Surgical System.
” Our new da Vinci® system is 100% physician-operated and utilizes robotic technology to give your surgeon the advantage of magnified 3D imagery, greater surgical precision, and the ability to perform complex procedures through a few tiny incisions,” a hospital official said.
During the procedure, the surgeon sits comfortably at a console, viewing 3D, high-definition image of the patient’s anatomy. The surgeon uses controls below the viewer to move the instrument arms and camera.
In real-time, the system translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into more precise movements of the miniaturized instruments inside the patient.
“Greater precision, less pain, quicker recoveries. The best of all worlds, here in your own backyard,” the PRMC official said.
