The appointment of two board members to the Paris Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) is on the agenda tonight for the Paris City Council meeting.
The PEDC and Chairperson Rebecca Clifford have been in the local headlines in the past couple months regarding the “forensic audit” conducted by the Dallas firm Defenbaugh & Associates. Not on the agenda for tonight’s meeting is a presentation on the results of that audit.
Other items on tonight’s City Council agenda include discussion and/or action on three addition final plats requests; two zoning change requests; the Safe Sidewalks for Kids program; and discuss and/or action on the proposal to clear drainage ditches in the city.
The City Council will also vote on whether to approve the Aldi, Inc. Site plan which was unanimously supported and recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission on July 7th. If approved, the Aldi Food Market would be in the space previously occupied by Hastings at the Paris Town Center shopping center.
Finally, if the City Council tonight votes on a resolution requested by TxDot Aviation, it will authorize expenditure of 10% of the project costs for construction of a 10-unit T-hangar and extension of a hangar access taxiway at Cox Field. The current project cost is estimated at $1,055,000 which includes $55,000 for engineering and $1million for the 10-unit T-hangar and hangar access taxiway. The City would be responsible for 10% of the cost, or $105,000. The rest of the project would be funded under a TXDot Aviation Division grant.
The Paris City Council meeting is tonight at 5:30pm in the City Council Chambers.
