A meeting scheduled for last Monday to hear the anticipated findings of a forensic investigation of Paris Economic Development Corp. was cancelled.
The special session was set to hear a report from Danny Defenbaugh regarding his findings of the PEDC investigation.
This is the second PEDC meeting cancelled in the last week. The June 10 session was to deal with a variety of issues, including the forensic investigation and an unpaid second invoice due to Defenbaugh & Associates, but was cancelled due to a lack of a quorum.
It was not immediately apparent why Monday’s meeting was called off.
“I do not know why,” Interim Executive Director Shannon Barrentine said via e-mail. “I just got a text from the board chair around 8:41 a.m. telling me that the meeting for today was cancelled.”
Attempts to contact Board Chair Rebecca Clifford were not immediately successful.
A special meeting of the Paris City Council set for last Thursday, also to discuss the investigation, was cancelled.
At a special meeting on June 3 with the city council, PEDC Chair Rebecca Clifford said that she had received no written reports from Defenbaugh, only verbal, and that the results of the investigation had been turned over to the FBI.
