Choked 2-year-old remains in critical condition

A 2-year-old Paris child remains in critical condition on life support in a Dallas hospital after being choked by a rope tying a dog to a tree last week, according to the Paris Police Department.

eparis logoPolice, fire and EMS were called to the 600 block of Southeast 10th Street on Thursday afternoon. Curtis Garrett, public information officer for the Paris Police Department, said the child appeared to be in the backyard with a dog tied to a tree with a nylon rope, which wrapped around his neck and rendered him unconscious.

The child was transported to a local hospital and transferred to a Dallas hospital by ambulance when foggy conditions prevented him from being airlifted to Dallas.

Garrett said an investigation into the matter is under way.
