- About Us
We recently held a naming contest among local elementary schools for our da Vinci surgical system. Mrs. Brazeal’s 4th grade class from North Lamar, Bailey Intermediate School proposed the winning name, “Robodoc.” On May 20th, they visited Paris Regional Medical Center to see the robot.
In December, we acquired our da Vinci surgical system, which allows our surgeons to perform both routine and complex surgeries using just a few small incisions. Smaller incisions mean quicker recovery times compared to traditional surgical procedures. The da Vinci system can be used to treat many conditions, including, but not limited to: coronary arterial disease, endometriosis, kidney disorders, obesity, and many types of cancers.
Thanks to Mrs. Brazeal and her students for helping name “Robodoc” and visiting us at Paris Regional Medical Center!
Did you know? More than 1.5 million da Vinci procedures have been performed worldwide since 2000 and 100% of top-ranked U.S. hospitals own at least one da VinciSystem.
Rachell L. Harris, MS, CCC/SLP, is our on-staff Speech Language Pathologist. She specializes in speech and language problems, as well as issues with feeding and swallowing.
Rachell’s main focus is pediatric patients who have difficulty with swallowing, feeding, and articulation. Her clients also may have phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, voice disorders, resonance disorders, and developmental disabilities.
Additionally, Rachell partners with other providers when speech pathology complements treatment and follow-up. For example, she has participated and observed cleft lip and palate surgery and worked with the children post recovery for speech and feeding therapy in a clinical setting. Rachell coordinated closely with ENT/facial surgeons to improve speech, resonance, and swallowing outcomes, and reduce the need for additional surgeries.
We are fortunate to have Rachell in our community of providers. If you have questions about speech pathology or want to speak about a referral, please call Rachell at (903) 737-1108 or stop by her office, located on the North Campus, 1st Floor Out-Patient Rehabilitation Department.
