Missed the deadline for Fit 4 Life? Don’t worry: There’s still time to join in!
Lamar County Fit 4 Life Community Challenge will accept late registrations through Friday.
There are no entry fees for this weight-loss challenge, but there are a few rules.
There need to be at least three members per team, and there’s no maximum. Each Fit 4 Life participant can only join one team. For those who want to participate but can’t seem to get a team together, just call the Lamar County Coalition of Education, Business and Industry. They’ll help set you up with one.
Each team must choose a leader, either from the group or a non-participant. The leader will oversee weigh-ins and report to the coalition.
Team members must be at least 18 years old and complete a registration form. All registration forms must be turned in to the coalition office at 1128 Clarksville St., Suite 150 by Friday.
This part may be tricky for some, but all participants must participate in a weekly weigh-in. Weigh-in stations will be available at Anytime Fitness, Paris Fitness and Aquatics and Jazzercise of Paris. Be sure to use the same scale each week to maintain a consistant reading.
Don’t worry, though. No one from the Fit4Life Committee or the coalition will know any participant’s individual weight – although weekly average team weight-loss percentages (not individual weights) may appear in weekly newsletters and local media.
Team leaders, please note that members may drop out, but their weight-loss percentages will be calculated into the team’s totals. It’s to your advantage to keep teammates on your team and losing weight.
If you miss a weigh-in one week, the previous week’s weight will be recorded for the missed week, which means zero weight loss for that week.
The winning team will be determined by the highest percentage of weight loss.
A travelling trophy will be awarded at the end of the challenge to the winning team. This trophy is to be awarded in future contests. Plus, cards will be distributed to all participants entitling them to benefits and discounts at participating community businesses.
Remember to eat healthy and exercise, and please consult your health care professional before making any significant changes to your dietary habits or your physical activity routines.
