In a recent post on the eParis Extra, it was communicated that the Downtown Food Pantry was in need of plastic bags. These are very useful, completely recyclable, and usually saved by most all people that get items at grocery and department stores.
These bags are more than valuable to the Food Pantry. In an attempt to bring them the bags that they needed, the Extra published the article requesting donations of these plastic bags.
In an amazing turn of events, a public affairs worker for a communications firm in Washington, D.C. caught sight of the article — amazingly enough. This communications firm, called Edelman, has a client called Hilex Poly.
Hilex Poly is an American manufacturer of plastic bags made from recycled materials and operator of the world’s largest closed loop plastic bag recycling facility.
“I saw the post on eParisExtra.com about donating plastic bags to the Downtown Food Pantry in Paris, Texas,” stated digital public affairs agent for Edelman in Washington, D.C., Raquel Bubar. “I wanted to send a donation on behalf of our client, Hilex Poly.”
Chuck Burton, who heads up the Downtown Food Pantry, was contacted, and on his birthday, 6 full cases of their grey recycled plastic bags were delievered to them from Hilex Poly.
“We hope people remember that plastic bags are 100% recyclable and reusable,” Raquel Bubar continued. “Hilex’s animated video helps to get the word out about plastic bag reusability and recyclability, and Hilex’s program, the Bag-2-Bag Program, collects plastic bags, wraps and films outside grocery stores for recycling.” (Click the highlighted links to view the videos.)

“I want to thank eParis Extra for alerting folks to the fact that the Downtown Food Pantry needed plastic bags, allowing us to help Hilex Poly make the donation,” Bubar continued.
It is really great that the eParis Extra’s reach — reaching all the way to Washington, D.C. — has been able to help contribute to the cause of the Downtown Food Pantry. Thank you to all the readers.
