Be the Match Registry – You could save lives – Come and register this Thursday

On Thursday, June 14, from 2pm to 6pm, at Paris Family Physicians, Be the Match Registry Team Brenda will be taking samples and consent forms from future members of the Be the Match registry, in hopes to find a match for Brenda Coplin to cure and help her terminal illness, AML Leukemia.  This person could be you, and you could have the power to save a life.

Brenda Coplin is a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mom (3 daughters), grandmother, friend, and long time resident of Paris, Texas. She enjoys spending time with her 9 grandkids, camping, reading & cooking. She was recently diagnosed with (AML) Leukemia. She now needs a bone marrow transplant to possibly cure her fatal blood disease.

The Coplin family and friends are asking all caring and compassionate individuals to determine whether they are the match for Brenda or for one of the thousands of other patients with similar life threatening diseases.

Initially, all it takes is completing a consent form and a cheek swab kit of the mouth to join the Be The Match Registry.

Thousands of people become part of this Be the Match registry so that when people are in need of transplants the same blood type can be sought out and found faster, possibly saving a life.  People everyday are in need of transplants, blood, and bone marrow that may have your same blood type.

Be the Match has been servicing the needs of people with illnesses for 25 years and has successfully been a part of 50,000 transplants.

If you do not want to be a donor, or get tested for your blood type, you can also help by donating funds to the cause.  For every $100 raised, Be the Match can add another member to the registry, so please give what you can.

To join, give, or volunteer, contact Clifford Ackerman, recruitment coordinator at 212-820-1589 or clifford.ackerman@baylorhealth.edu.
