PRMC DaVinciPRMC Uses the da Vinci Robot in Cholecystectomies

In January, PRMC added another major advancement in technology, the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci “robot” allows our surgeons to perform routine and complex surgeries using just a few small incisions. Dr. Michael Brown, a general surgeon at PRMC, has begun the da Vinci system for cholecystectomies, or gallbladder removal. The da Vinci’s tiny instruments and extremely precise maneuvers allow our surgeons to provide patients less invasive surgeries and help speed up their healing time.

Did You Know? The PillCam is used by having patients swallow it and then wear a sensor belt and portable recorder that transmits images of the intestine (via radio waves) for up to eight-hours.
