Red Cross Warns About Danger of Wildfires
The American Red Cross Lamar County is warning local residents that conditions are favorable for wildfires across North Texas. In cooperation with local fire departments, we discourage outdoor burning while there is an abundance of dead and dry ground fuel, winds are high and humidity is low.
Red Cross Disaster Action teams are on scene to canteen fire fighters at a large grass fire of CR33990 near Powderly, TX, and also providing services at a single family fire / grass fire on CR42570 in Reno, TX.
Red Cross offers the following general resources to help our community be prepared and knowledgeable regarding wildlifes. The newly released Wildfire App by American Red Cross is available for both iPhone and Android devices by searching “Red Cross Wildfire” on iTunes or Google Play store. These apps offer up-to-date fire conditions as well as steps you can take to avoid, prepare for and respond to wildfires.
