Local Youth Groups collecting Shoes for the Needy
The youth groups of Holy Cross Episcopal Church and the First Christian Church are collecting gently worn shoes to send to impoverished areas so that small business owners can resell the shoes and provide resources for food, clothing, shelter and education for their families. This is known as a micro-enterprise project.
Holy Cross and First Christian youth have partnered with Funds2Orgs to provide much needed help in poverty stricken areas by simply offering gently worn shoes. However, that’s not the end of the help this project entails. The youth groups will receive funds for the shoes collected. This money will then go to help fund summer mission trips to North Carolina and Austin. The youth will do home repair and work with social service projects to help our own neighbors and fellow citizens in need.
Those wishing to donate shoes can do so beginning on Monday, February 3rd. Collection boxes will be set up at both Holy Cross and First Christian (9am-2pm, M-Th), Lamar National Bank, Green Boutique, Watkins Family Martial Arts Academy and Central Presbyterian Day School.
