The Kiwanis and the United Way have announced that Saturday, Jan. 25 will be a workday out at Camp Kiwanis on Pat Mayse Lake.
The ice storm that hit Lamar County in December resulted in many down trees, branches, limbs and debris. Crews have been working every Saturday trying to get the roads clear in order to reach camping sites.
Warmer temperatures on Saturday should aid in the clean-up efforts. They will be providing sandwiches, chips and drinks around 12:30 for all workers.
“Bring your gloves, rakes, chain saws, trailers (if you want wood) and come to have a great time getting the camp back in shape for the camping season coming real soon,” an official said. Work will begin at 8 a.m.
