Paris Baby will host the release party of “Ruby Jack’s Rats,” authored by Paris’ own Christine Marie Lenoir. The event will take place between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., this Saturday, Sept. 14, and marks the children’s book’s first official release date.
“We are super excited to be able to host a local author and be the first store to sell ‘Ruby Jack’s Rats,’” said Paris Baby Co-owner Melissa Steinkamp Gordon. “We have already read the book to our kiddos and know that it will be a hit in our community.”
Most likely any mother of a little girl knows the pain of brushing out tangles-not just for the child, but for the mother. The process can be exhausting. “Ruby Jack’s Rats” is inspired by stories Lenoir would make up with her daughter, Ruby Jack, as she tried to groom her hair. Though tangles go by other names (knots, mats, etc.), they are also sometimes referred to as rats or a “rat’s nest.” We don’t want to give away too much of the story; this clever work deserves to be read. Let’s just say it features five fun-loving rats that scurry around in Ruby’s hair at night, leaving it filled with tangles. Don’t worry-these rats mean no harm.
The hours are flexible, so visitors can come and go as they please. For those desiring extra excitement, there will be book readings at 10:30 am, 11 am, and noon. Books will be available for purchase, signed by Lenoir and Ruby Jack herself. Guests who attend this event will be in for a treat (literally), sampling sweet surprises from Creative Candy Designs. Kids can also experience the fun with free Ruby Jack coloring sheets.
