Preparing healthy meals on a budget isn’t always an easy task. Sometimes dining out is simply more convenient in both price and time. As a fun and affordable alternative to this common issue, Dinner Tonight Healthy Cooking School will be in Paris on Sept. 10. The event, presented by The Lamar County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, will be held at 6 p.m. in Lewis Hall of Paris Regional Medical Center, 865 DeShong Dr.
“Our goal for the evening is to give participants some healthier options for their meals in hopes to help them make better choices when it comes to meals,” said AgriLife County Extension Agent Laura Graves.
The event will feature several nutritious cooking demonstrations ideal for the time-constrained. The meals, prepared by a licensed dietician, will be part of a diabetic-friendly menu. Through this course, participants will receive new culinary tips and ideas that support both a healthy and low-budget lifestyle.
Participants will enjoy many benefits included as part of the $25 registration fee.
“Each participant will receive a cookbook and a meal,” Graves said. “There will be vendors…to buy from and door prizes will be given out throughout the evening.”
For those who prefer to learn online in the comfort of their own homes, or are unable to attend the school in-person, the AgriLife Extension Office website also offers an array of healthy food recipes and videos. The recipes range from appetizers to side dishes and healthy desserts. For more information, visit http://healthyliving.tamu.edu.
