Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the Red River Valley Fair has come to town. There’s more fun and excitement planned for this year than ever before.
An event that has brought smiles to peoples faces in the Red River Valley area since 1911, this Fair is one of the best in the state.
The fair will publicly start on Tuesday, September 25, and run through Saturday, September 29.
On Tuesday through Friday the gates will open at 6pm, and on Saturday at 11am. There is a $5 general admission fee, but children ages 6 and under are free. From 11am-4pm on Saturday the general admission price will be reduced to $3, and back to $5 after 4pm.
Also on Saturday, September 29, Senior Citizens ages 60 and over will be offered free admission from 11am-4pm.
The gates of the fair will close at 10:30pm Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the gates will close at 11pm. No one will be allowed to enter the fairgrounds once the gates are closed.
There will be a parking fee of $1 per car, with the proceeds benefitting Local Church Youth Groups: Fellowship Baptist Church of Blossom and South Side Baptist Church, and Boy Scout Troops #2 & #3990.
There will be full-time security on site at the fair grounds for the duration of the Red River Valley Fair, provided by the Paris Police Department and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department.
Daily attractions will include, but are certainly not limited to, Main Stage Entertainment, Ag Venture, Century 21 Amusements Carnival, Antique Tractor Exhibit, Cato’s Antique Car Show, Commercial Exhibits, Gator the Clown, Creative Arts & Crafts Showcases, The Banana Derby, Community Exhibits, Ponies & Pals Pony Petting Zoo, Livestock Shows, Belgium Draft Horses, Home & Garden Showcases, Food Concessions and Tropical Illusions.
Paris Idol will also be back at the Fair this year. Preliminary showcases have already taken place to decide the contestants for this year, and they’re better than ever before. They will be performing for the Paris Idol title on Saturday night, September 29, at 8pm.
Fair visitors are welcome to bring lawn chairs for stage entertainment.
There will also be, as always, many fun and exciting carnival rides for everyone. The carnival will be open to the public Tuesday through Friday at 6pm, closing at 11pm — except on Friday night, the carnival will close at 11:30pm.
On Saturday, the carnival will open at 11am and close at 11:30pm.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, armbands for unlimited carnival rides are $18, and on Friday, armbands are $20.
On Saturday, from 11am-4pm, there will be a special price for armbands at $15 each, but these will only be good from 11am-5pm. After 5pm on Saturday, armbands are $20.
There will also be single ride coupons at the carnival.
