2014 Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the Maxey House
At 6:30pm, children can bring their stuffed animals, dolls or action figures to the Sam Bell Maxey House, located at 812 Church Street, for a sleepover. After introductions, everyone is invited to stay for an early bedtime story and a snack. At the end of the story, good-byes will be said as the children leave the toys overnight.
On Saturday, July 26th from 9am-4pm the children can come pick up their favorite teddy bear or doll and find out what they were up to in the historic home overnight. Children will receive their toy back along with pictures of the fun that was had at the sleepover. Children can then participate in some of the same activities and games will be set up outside.
This event is free.
The Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site is run by the Texas Historical Commission. The House built in the High Victorian Italianate style in 1868 was the family residence of Sam Bell Maxey, a Mexican War Veteran, Confederte general and two-term US Senator. Regular tours are given Tuesday -Saturday.
