Canvases Being Painted for 6 Squared
The Paris Texas Main Street Program is preparing for its “6 Squared” fundraising event, which aims to engage and inspire the community using ART.
Many individuals have picked up the 6×6 canvases but also several groups including: Chisum art students, North Lamar Students and the Paris Junior High. The Paris Junior College Art Department will be taking 25 canvases when classes start again.
Bedford told eParis that several canvases have been sent some across the state and country. Some were sent to Austin, Bastrop, Grapevine, Taos NM, Colorado, Florida, and Michigan.
In addition, a painting party will be scheduled at a local art gallery soon for guided painting. All supplies will be provided.
Bedford states, “We have received back 38 canvases as of today. We want to remind everyone that the event is approximately 6 weeks away, and this can sneak up quickly, so now is the time to finish the canvases and get them returned.”
Paris Main Street is asking citizens to participate by creating an art piece by picking up and returning one of the 6×6 canvases or support the cause by coming to the Gibraltar Hotel, on September 6th at 5 p.m. and purchasing a piece of art. PUBLIC invited, and there is NO cost to attend.
The project goal has two goals:
- Raise much needed funds for Main Street/Downtown Project goals beginning with the public restroom to be located on First United Methodist Church Park.
- Showcasing the many talented people in the community.
