Thanks to Two Rivers Antiques, we have an annual and festive Paris Texas Antique Fair, bringing antique enthusiasts and buyers and sellers from all over to the Red River Valley Fair Grounds.
Following the Fair on Friday night, the Paris Downtown Association brings us a ‘Party on the Plaza’, with tons of activities surrounding it.
The Paris Texas Antique Fair is now in it’s second year. This year has even more planned than last. There are hand picked antique dealers from all over the country expected to be there, as well as vintage clothing, jewelry, and linens. There will also be homemade food from Leona’s Cafe, desserts from Southern Sweets Bakery, wine from Paris Vineyards, and coffee from That Guy’s Coffee.
There is a $3 admission fee, but children under age 12 are free. A portion of the gate proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Awareness group, Women Rock Inc.
Also featured at the Antique Fair, will be Paris’s own version of the famous ‘Antique Roadshow’. For just $5, if you can carry it in, you can bring up to 3 items to be appraised by Georgia Caraway, executive director of the Denton County Museum.
To provide the ladies with a more enjoyable shopping experience, FREE Husband parking with a big screen TV will be available once again this year.
Another treat this year, will be the Vintage Trailer Tours hosted by Sisters on the Fly! They will have 35 decorated trailers for your viewing pleasure, as well as a quilt raffle to raise funds for the Sister’s cause, Casting for Recovery. This group of women help fund these healing and therapeutic fly-fishing retreats for breast cancer patients and survivors so that they can attend at no cost.
In the spirit of October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sisters on the Fly! and Women Rock Inc. will take their caravan and fans to the downtown plaza on Friday night following the antique fair for the Paris Downtown Association’s ‘Party on the Plaza’ — keep an eye out for all the pink balloons.
For the ‘Party on the Plaza’, many of the Downtown Boutiques will be open late for business, with snacks and beverages available while you shop.
That’s not all though, the Paris Community Theatre will be performing the rendition of “A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody” all weekend, including Friday night — show starts at 7:30pm.
From 7-10pm, Folk n’ Roll Music will present ‘Folk on the Fountain’ and provide a live concert on the plaza, with local favorites, Alex Addy & the Tambourine Machine and the Draggin’ Man Band performing on the fountain amongst all the festivities.
In other — shorter — words, all of Paris will be busy this weekend, and Downtown especially on Friday night, October 12. Come out for all the festivities.
The 2nd Annual Paris Antique Fair will run October 12 & 13 at the Red River Valley Fair Grounds. The Paris Downtown Association’s ‘Party on the Plaza’ will be on Friday, October 12, from 7-10pm.
