Children’s book author, Bill Farris, visited students at Everett Elementary and Bailey Intermediate in North Lamar Independent School District. He spoke to the two campuses about his books and described their characters and funny personality traits. The books he has authored are Mom Reads to Us, The Optimistic Football Coach, and Clyde and the Impostor Santa.
Students then had the opportunity to purchase his books and have him autograph them. Second grader Luke Elrod holds the books he got from Farris.
Paris Junior College Adult Education and Family Literacy will hold graduation ceremonies for students who have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) requirements within the past year.
Students who have not received a mailed invitation should contact the Adult Education and Family Literacy office by Monday, April 30 to confirm participation. There is no cost to participate.
The ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8 in the Hunt Center on the PJC campus.
Chisum Key Club Students attended the 2012 Texas-Oklahoma District Convention at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Dallas on April 13-15, 2012.
The students listened to speakers about leadership skills, attended meetings and voted on new district officers for next year.
Those attending were: Courtney Trammel, Shelbie Whitten, Robin Mallory, Brooklyn Nance, Taylor Kennedy, Makala Methvin, Shelbi Cooper, Jessica Newton, Mytchell Naylor, Misty Stotts, Courtney Whitman, and Kaytlin Aubrey. Not shown are Xondria Hurd and Jamie Landers.
They were accompanied by Key Club Sponsors Mrs. Pam Stotts and Mr. Lynn Patterson.
