Chisum High School students Metz Branch and Roy Rojas received Medals for a Superior Rating, which is the second highest award, for their art at the State VASE art contest this weekend.
The boys also received two patches for their letterman jackets for their success at Regionals and State There were over 26,000 total entries in the contest, with only 1,600 making it to the state level. And only 30% receiving the honor of medaling.
The Banquet features a live and silent auction, musical entertainment by high school students, and a catered meal.
Come out and support Chisum ISD students and enjoy a good meal and fellowship. Alumni from Chisum, Delmar, and West Lamar classes of 2004, 1994, 1984, 1974, 1964, and 1954 will also be honored.
Tickets are $15.00 each with children under five, free. Anyone who purchases a ticket is automatically entered to win a custom made grill/fire pit donated by Craig Burns and Northeast Texas Metal Fab.
Tickets can be purchased at the administration building (903-737-2830) or at the door on the night of the event.
Proceeds will be used to provide a safe and fun environment that is drug free for Chisum Seniors on graduation night. Cash and Check and Debit/Credit Cards will be accepted.
All bags of mulch (hardwood, cedar, pine and red colored) are 2 cu ft bags and are $3.
Pre Order sales are being done by the seniors and their family members. All pre sales will allow the seniors to receive extra points. If you are interested in making a pre order please contact a Chisum High senior. If you do not know any personally you can contact Taunya Herrmann at 903-517-8342.
On Saturday, February 15, 2014, Chisum High School sophomore clarinetist Michael Edenhoffer performed with the Association of Texas Small School Bands’ All State Symphonic Band.
Edenhoffer was selected to perform following rigorous auditions at the region, area, and state level. More than 9,000 high school students from 1A, 2A, and 3A bands across the state auditioned in twenty different regions for a place in their respective all-region bands.
The top chairs in each region advanced to one of the five are auditions held this past weekend across the state, and only 290 of these 1620 students were selected for all-state honors.
In San Antonio, Michael competed against the other All State students and was selected as first chair clarinet overall. This was Michael’s second consecutive selection to the All State Band.
The All State Symphonic band was conducted by Richard Floyd, Director of Music-Emeritus for the University Interscholastic League.
Michael is the son of Dr. Peter Edenhoffer and Ildiko Edenhoffer.

Calli West continued her awesome winning streak at the 2014 San Antoinio Livestock Show. This past weekend, she won Reserve Overall Supreme heifer, Grand Champion Angus, and Reserve Champion Angus with her heifers.
