More theft, burglary reports and arrests keep Police busy over the weekend – Paris PD Press Release; April 19-22

Over the weekend, Paris Police responded to 320 calls for service, while arresting 26.

On Friday, April 19, officers responded to a burglary of a building call in the 300 block of SE 16th Street. The victim advised that he observed that someone had cut the lock from his shed and had stolen several items, according to Paris PD Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett. Someone had also broken a window to gain access to the residence.  The incident is under investigation.

Paris Police vehicleOfficers also responded to a theft call in the 3100 block of NW 19th Street, where it was reported that someone had stolen a large propane tank and an unknown amount of copper line from the yard. The victim was out of town at the time of the report, and a neighbor reported the theft. This incident is also under investigation.

Roshanda King, 36, of Paris, was arrested in the 3000 block of Clarksville Street for theft when she was observed shoplifting.  Due to King having more than two prior theft convictions, this charge was enhanced to a felony.

Jerry Lynn Coleman, 37, was arrested on a traffic warrant after being stopped in the 1600 block of Fitzhugh for speeding. While officers were placing Coleman into handcuffs, a handgun fell from his pants, according to police. Coleman was also found to be in possession of narcotics.  He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and the traffic warrant.

Michael Djuan McCuin, of Paris, was arrested on Sunday, April 21, on two felony warrants when he was observed consuming alcohol in a public place in the 800 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. McCuin was arrested on warrants for burglary of a building. He was also charged with failure to identify when he initially identified himself with a wrong name.

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Department needs to know the information that you have concerning these crimes so that they can be solved. If you have knowledge of who may have possession of this 3-wheeler or who damaged this house, you could receive a reward of up to $1000 for that information by calling Crime Stoppers.
