A variety of needs and interests may be met through the classes offered Paris Junior College’s continuing education department in November. Unless otherwise stated, all courses are in the Bobby R. The Microsoft Access Essentials database class will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Monday and Thursday, Nov. 18-26. This program is used to manage data that is organized into lists such as customer information, products, inventory, sales, vendors and more.
A Microsoft Excel Essentials class will be offered on the electronic spreadsheet application. The course will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Nov. 4-13.
Receive special training on problems encountered in business and industry with Microsoft Word Advanced, including tables, templates and writing macros. Textbook is included in the class, which is offered from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 5-13.
Welcome to the World of Computers will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 12-21. This class is designed for the person that has very limited, if any, computer training.
The Defensive Driving Course will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9.
The Driver’s Education class, approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety, meets from 4-6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, Nov. 4-Dec. 3.
Oversize Load Pilot Car Training will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 9-16. Training covers requirements for pilot car drivers, routing, safety, equipment and techniques for guiding oversize loads.
The Flatbed Securement & Safety Workshop will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. The course helps drivers understand how to safely load, inspect and secure several different types of cargo hauled on flatbed trucks.
Professional Truck Driving I and II is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, Nov. 4-26. This class offers hands-on skill and development and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation, as well as advanced skills drill and safe operating practices for shifting and backing.
The Initial Basic Life Support class on lifesaving skills for respiratory and cardiac emergencies will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The American Heart Association certifies the class.
Basic Life Support Recertification for CPR certified cardholders is offered from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The American Heart Association certifies the class.
The Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED (automated external defibrillator) class targets day care workers, church nursery staff and parents wanting to adopt. The course teaches basic first aid and CPR/AED procedures, including first aid skills recommended by the Occupational Safety and Health Agency, to those with a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency. It will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.
A Digital Photography Essentials class will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 11-20. This is an introductory course to learning how the camera works and digital imaging.
The Kids Hurt Too Seminar will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 9. This seminar is designed to help parents understand the needs of their children throughout the process of divorce.
Spanish for Fun is offered from 1 to 4 p.m., Fridays, Nov. 8-22.
