Paris Junior College’s Continuing Education Department has scheduled a variety of courses for the month of July, according to Dr. Charles George, Associate Dean of Workforce Training and Continuing Education. Unless otherwise noted the classes are held in the Bobby R. Walters Workforce Training Center on the north side of the PJC campus.
Computer
A Microsoft Excel Essentials class will meet from 9-11 a.m. each
Wednesday and Thursday, July 25 to August 2. This is an electronic
spreadsheet class.
Microsoft Word Essentials will be offered from 9-11 a.m. each
Wednesday and Thursday, July 11-19. This word processing class offers
instruction to create professional looking documents.
QuickBooks Level 1: Basic Skills will be held from 1-5 p.m. each
Monday, July 2-16. This is a popular record keeping software used by small
businesses today.
Driving
The Defensive Driving Course will meet from 6-9 p.m. on Monday and
Tuesday, July 16-17.
The Driver’s Education class will be held from 4-6 p.m., Monday
through Thursday, July 23 through August 16.
Truck Driver Training is offered on a need basis. For more

Health
A Nurse Aide class is scheduled to meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
Monday through Thursday, July 2-19. A second class will begin July 30 and
run through August 15.
The Basic Life Support Recertification for current CPR certified
card holders will meet from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12.
An Initial Basic Life Support will be offered from 5:30-9 p.m. on
Monday and Tuesday, July 16-17.
Language
Spanish for Fun offers practical and functional use of the language
in a brief period. The class will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. each Wednesday,
July 11 to August 1.
Parenting
The Kids Hurt Too Seminar will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon
Saturday, July 14. This seminar is designed to help parents understand the
needs of their children throughout the process of divorce.
Personal Enrichment
A Beginning Genealogy class, “Where Are Your Roots?” will meet from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 7 at the Genealogical Library on Bonham
Street.
The Art of Remembering class will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m., each
Tuesday and Thursday, July 31 to August 14. Memory techniques covered will
help decrease dependency on technology and increase mental memory.
Workforce Education
A Business Leadership workshop will meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon each
Friday, July 6-27. Identify and acquire skills and tools to become a better
leader.
