In their Monday evening meeting, the Paris Junior College Board of Regents approved issuance of $4 million in revenue bonds for construction financing of the math and sciences building through five local banks.
The Regents also approved including the building of a new parking lot in the main contract with Charter Construction to be included in the guaranteed maximum price. Approximately 150 parking spots will be included.
In other business the Regents:
. Received a financial report from Vice President of Business Services John Eastman that cash is declining due to planned spending on construction, and revenue and expenditures are on target.
. Altered the room and board rate to increase the Masters’ Apartments to $850 a semester and reflect the five percent increase made last month to the Aramark cafeteria contract.
. Approved renewing the bookstore contract with Nebraska Books.
. Accepted per course fee increases that reflect pass through costs.
. Received a report on the Achieving the Dream Trustee Institute held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from the three regents who attended: Berdie Gibson, Louise Taylor and Ann Wyche. All praised the knowledge on student success they gained from the institute, the improvements PJC is making for students as a result of the program, and the foresight of PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin in pushing for PJC’s participation in Achieving the Dream.
. Were told that PJC Commencement will now begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11.
. Approved the hiring of Tracy Irby, effective April 11, 2012, as Small Business Development Counselor.
