Paris High students and staff unite against bullying

Paris High School’s National Honor Society sponsored United Against Bullying Day. This is a national campaign to bring awareness of an ever growing issue in our schools.

“Nearly one-third of all school-aged children are bullied each year – upwards of 13 million    students,” said Julie Hertzog, director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, which sponsors Unity Day and founded National Bullying Prevention Month in 2006. “We need to show these students they are not alone. By joining together and wearing orange on Unity Day, we can send a national, unified message that bullying will no longer be accepted in this society.”

Paris High NHS made daily announcements highlighting facts, statistics, and ways to help. NHS also sold orange anti-bullying shirts. Students and staff were asked to stand up and stand out on Wednesday by wearing orange to show their awareness, concern, and support of the cause.
