PISD looking to TASB for superintendent search

Paris ISD is leaning toward using the Texas Association of School Boards to find a new superintendent.

The Paris Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Monday to have a representative of TASB’s Executive Search Services meet in a special session at the end of the month.

“They are very thorough. I didn’t see any buddy system in there,” said Trustee Rickey Richardson, who attended a TASB course with Trustee Regina Williams. “They’re going to save us from a lot of pitfalls.”

District staff will try to set up a meeting Oct. 30 or Oct. 23. Trustee Dale Henry said TASB has done work for the district before with good results.

“This should be a special session with just this item on the agenda,” Board President George Fisher. “This is important enough we don’t need to have anything else crowding the agenda.”

In August, current Superintendent Paul Trull submitted his resignation, effective June 30. Trull first retired about a year ago, then worked as a consultant as acting superintendent. That ended in August as the board voted to employ him as interim superintendent through June 30, 2013.
