Paris High Junior Wins State Accounting Championship

Junior Justin Hutchison is the newest state champion from Paris High. He placed first Tuesday in the Class 3A UIL accounting contest in Austin with a score of 377 points, easily outdistancing the runnerup, Grant Stein of state powerhouse Argyle, by 31 points.

Stein edged out Hutchison by one question to win the Region 2 gold medal in ac- counting. Both advanced to Tuesday’s state meet in Austin where Hutchison turned the tables.

It’s the first state UIL academic champion to represent Paris High since Zachary Branch won state ready writing in 2010. Hutchison’s coach is Eric Chaverria.
