Aaron Parker 4th grader, Georgia Cainan, shows her idiom on the TV screen to the left to the class from Ontario shown on the TV to the right. The idiom shared was “puppy love” which means when young people are in love.
In celebration of Read Across America Day, which was March 2, students in the North Lamar Independent School District are communicating with other students across the country via video conferencing. The groups take turns learning from one other by presenting to each other and asking questions.
Irene Atkins fourth grade English, Language Arts, and Reading class at Aaron Parker Elementary had a video conference with a fourth grade self-contained class from Ontario, Canada. The North Lamar students learned that French is required of the Canadian students and a French teacher comes to their class two to three times a week. The students presented proverbs to Atkins class and the Parker students reciprocated by presenting idioms.
