Paris, TX – For the third consecutive time, the North Lamar High School Marching Band advanced to the State Marching Contest in San Antonio. They competed with twenty-one of the top 3A marching bands in the state in the Alamo Dome on Monday, November 5th.
“Our students were very excited at the opportunity to showcase the hard work they had put in over the past three months,” said Band Director Randy Jones.
After an outstanding preliminary performance, the band was ranked second behind the defending state champions, Argyle, and was selected to then perform in Finals that evening.
“Our finals performance was incredible, and we were really pleased with how well the students performed,” Jason R. Smith Associate Director said about the bands finals performance. “I think it was something they will be proud for the rest of their life.”
With a completely different panel of judges from prelims, the band was ranked fifth after finals. This marks the third straight time the band has competed at the State Marching Contest, and the second time they advanced all the way to finals.
The band is under the direction of Randy Jones, Jason R. Smith, Ron Williams, Gina Ervin, Janie Logee, and Tom Neugent.
