North Lamar High School Band heads to state

After competing and placing 1^st at the Area Marching Band Contest at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, October 27, the North Lamar High School Band will be headed to the State Marching Contest in San Antonio on November 5-6.

Associate Band Director Jason R. Smith said, “After their finals performance, the students were just beaming ear to ear.  It is a great pleasure to see that.  And I must say, their maturity and behavior over a very intense day would make anyone proud.”

This is the third time for the band to make it to the state competition.  The other years were in 2008 and 2010.  Others leading the band are Director Randy Jones and Associate Director Ron Williams.
