Stone Middle School competed Saturday, October 20 at the BEST Hub Robotics competition at Texas A&M Commerce. The robotics team brought home three awards, Imagination Award, Integrity Award, and Innovation Award after tying for 11th place out of 32 teams. This is the first time that a school has won all three awards.
The task, to build a robot that could climb a ten foot c strut unit while also manipulating objects on the playing field, was not easy.
“I felt like we did really well this year. We were the only team that did not use a winch system and it paid off,” said robotics instructor Eric Loveless. “We were able to go up and down the pole very quickly and with relative ease.”
Although the team is finished with this contest, they have already begun getting ready for their next competition in December.
