North Lamar Freshman and JV Open Season With Impressive Wins

The North Lamar High School ninth grade football team defeated Canton on Thursday night 36-14 in their season opener.

In the win, Ty Dillard scored 2 touchdowns for the Panthers. Teammates Isaiah Harris and Stephen Bass both contributed with a touchdown a piece, with Bass also converting on a 2 point attempt. Julique Franklin caught a 30 yard touchdown pass from Trey Scudder in the impressive victory Thursday. Coach Danny Bulls said Hunter Reeves and Klayton Drake were solid defensive standouts as well.

The Junior Varsity squad was also in action Thursday against Commerce, with the Panthers coming away with a 47 – 12 victory. Tyler Anthony threw 3 touchdown passes in the victory. Dennis Jameson, Colton Wise, Devin McDonald and Eric Stuart all found the end zone for the Panthers as well.

The defense proved to be too much for Commerce as well with at least five tackles for negative yards. Jameson had a fumble recovery, while Chris Hoffmaster had an interception during the game. All in all it was a very solid effort from the Panthers. They hope to continue the success when they take on Bonham next Thursday night.
