North Lamar High School is planning a four day event for all high school students to get connected with Zone 32. The free event, which is not limited to North Lamar students, will be June 11-14 (Monday – Thursday) from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at North Lamar High School.
“Zone 32 is about the hope that our young people can find the tools necessary to be successful in life,” said NLHS Principal Paul Allen. Facilitated by professionals, Zone 32 provides a safe place for students to support and share among each other.
On the agenda, Allen said, “Each of the four days will focus on a topic lead by professionals. There will be guest speakers, games that pertain to the daily subject, group sessions, food and prizes.”
Going on he said, “Day one will center on High School Survival Skills that will include Coping with Drama, Organization/Study Habits, Seeing the Big Picture, and Choices. The following days will be on Family, Bullying, and Substance Use and Abuse.”
Among the professionals that will speak and assist in the four days will be Ronikaye Rusak, Ashley Womack, Luke Finch, Scott Finch, Mike Bishop, Lee Gill, Kathy Floyd and North Lamar High School instructors. Other special speakers will be North Lamar parent, Robbie Wilson, and students, Mason McGill and Emily Springer.
Each day prizes totaling $200 will be given away from a drawing of those present. Prizes will include gift cards from area businesses, gas cards, and an iPad on the last day. The first 100 students to sign up and attend will receive a free Zone 32 T-shirt.
“Lunch will be provided to parents and participants on the last day,” said Allen. “We will also make available all the counseling resources that Lamar County has to offer on this day.”
